Bárbara Jasmins (1994) is a portuguese-azorean artist that works and lives between Lisbon and the Azores. She holds both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts of Lisbon, under the tutorship of Rui Alexandre Serra.
Among the exhibitions Jasmins has had the opportunity to participate in, she had the honor of representing Portugal at the European Glass Context Biennale in Denmark in 2021. That same year, she inaugurated her first solo exhibition, “SOMNUM,” at the Museu Municipal da Ribeira Grande in São Miguel, Azores. Early in 2022, she participated in the prestigious group exhibition “The Art-ist Great” at the Centro Municipal de Cultura in Ponta Delgada, São Miguel. Later in 2022, she presented her second solo exhibition, “AVUSMATER,” at the historic cistern of the Faculty of Fine Arts of Lisbon. In 2023, Jasmins took part in the XVI Bienal de Cerâmica Artística in Aveiro, marking a significant milestone in her growing presence in the contemporary ceramics scene. She was honored with a commendation from the Regional Government of the Azores in recognition of her significant contributions to the region’s art and culture. Additionally, Jasmins is now part of the collection at the Centro Cultural da Caloura, which features important names in Portuguese contemporary art, including Paula Rego, Canto da Maya, Domingos Rebelo, and Vieira da Silva, among others. Recently, she exhibited her work in Bulgaria following an artist residency “Water Tower Art Residency” and in Canarias, a Residency in El Hierro “RARA-ARAR: Encontros Criativos no Lava Circular”, curated by Miguel Flor. Now she’s scheduled to present her work out of Portugal in 2025.
